Tips To Save Money On Your Next Vacation Part 2

DSCN1508Earlier this month, I published the article Tips To Save Money On Your Next Vacation Part 1. I love going on trips, so I didn’t want to wait to long before publishing Part 2.

Vacations can SOMETIMES be expensive, however, they don’t always need to be. Whenever I hear about others spending $10,000 on a one week vacation because they don’t think it can be any cheaper than that, I won’t lie, I wonder what I could possibly do on a one week vacation for $10,000 – I just don’t even know how that is possible!

Yes, it is possible to spend way less than $10,000 (or even $2,000) on a vacation, you just have to try. You don’t even have to try that hard.

There are plenty of ways for you to save money so that you don’t have to bust your budget or break the bank to escape your city (or maybe you want to have a staycation!) and have some fun somewhere new.

Here are 3 more ways to save money on your next vacation:

1. Try to be minimalist with your packing.

Many airline companies nowadays charge hefty fees for those who check a bag. Some may only charge a fee if you check more than 2 bags (or something like that). It’s always best to look into the checked bag fees that the airline charges as sometimes they can be rather large and they may break your vacation budget.

2. Compare pricing.

When shopping for your transportation, try to compare pricing for your transportation ticket. Shop around on different days as weekday pricing may be cheaper than weekend pricing.

Also, compare pricing for different companies as well. One company may be significantly cheaper than another for no real reason.

3. Look for coupons.

If I know that I want to do a certain activity or eat at a certain restaurant while I am on a vacation, I try to look to see if there are any coupons. This can be easy to do. All you need to do is search “___ coupon” and something usually will pop up.

Another thing you could do is search for coupons, because these are usually a very good deal! Remember to sign up for their email list as well because they often send out discounts on their coupons. I am usually able to buy $25 gift certificates to my favorite restaurants for only $2.

How do you try to save money on your vacations?

  1. Good tips, especially the coupons – I always remember to search if I’m buying something online, but never when I’m planning on going somewhere in person. Have made a mental note to do that in the future though!
