Traveling To Kauai Tips

We went to Kauai a few years ago, and it was definitely one of our favorite vacations that we have ever taken. We were there for a little less than a week, and we still dream about going back one day.

The views were beautiful, the weather was amazing, the food was delicious, the locals were nice, so of course we wanted to go back!

Here are my tips for when you visit Kauai:

Rentals can be expensive, but some are much cheaper.

Since we were in Kauai, we wanted to rent a Jeep. Jeeps are expensive here though, because everyone else wants to rent them as well. I believe we paid around $600 to rent the Jeep for 5 days. However, we could have paid around $150 for the same amount of days to rent an eco car, which we will probably do next time.

If you are wanting to see the island, I really recommend that you buy a car. I heard that taxis were hard to come by and were expensive if you wanted to go anywhere.

Traveling To Kauai TipsVisit Waimea Canyon.

We were staying on the south side of the island, so Waimea Canyon wasn’t too far of a drive. I definitely recommend visiting Waimea Canyon no matter where you are staying on the island though. The drive is fun anyways!

Waimea Canyon offers extremely beautiful views, so you just have to go see it to see what I’m talking about. :)

Make sure to visit as many beaches as you can.

If you have a rental car, then this will be easier for you. There are tons of beaches on the island of Kauai, and I recommend that you try as many as you can! We drove to a lot of them and then would find somewhere near the beach to eat. It is beautiful everywhere so I know you will have a great time.

Traveling To Kauai TipsSee Queen’s Bath.

One of my favorite things about Kauai was visiting Queen’s Bath. It’s this little secret (I’m not sure how secretive it really is) clear ocean pond on the northern side of the island.

We visited Queen’s Bath three times and saw TONS of turtles and beautiful fish.

Check out the food trucks.

Kauai has really good food, and I really recommend that you check out the food trucks on the island of Kauai. It is usually somewhat affordable and the food is to die for.

What I wish we would have done… Seen the Na Pali Coast.

The Na Pali Coast is one of the main reasons why I want to go back. I would love to hike the Na Pali Coast one day, as you can only get there by boat or air or hiking.

Have you ever been to Kauai? What’s your favorite island?
